Homemade Spaghetti
This sauce is quite delicious and it is sweet too. It is also different from any you have made, as the secret ingredient is bread & butter pickles. Don't knock it until you've tried it.
Sauce:
1 lb. ground beef
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tablespoon flour
1 cup bread & butter pickles, chopped fine (measure after chopping)
1 28 oz. can diced tomatoes
4 oz. can tomato sauce
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons oregano
2 teaspoons basil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup red wine
1. Brown ground beef and onion in oil. Add chopped garlic and fry a minute longer.
2. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook 15 minutes more to thicken.
3. Serve over hot homemade pasta or store bought pasta.
